North Platte – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team were defeated by the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen on Friday evening in three sets, 25-19, 25-17, and 25-21, in front of the “pink out” night crowd at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
It was also Girl Scout night and the Lady Knights signed autographs following the game
In the first set the Lady Knights trailed the Plainswomen 8-11 into the first time out. The Plainsomen outscored the Lady Knights 9-4 to take a 20-12 lead to take control of the first set.
In set three, the Plainswomen jumped out to a 12-7 lead and built up a 23-17 lead. The Lady Knights rally came up short to lose by three. The Lady Knights did pull within two at 13-15, but couldn’t get over the top.
The Lady Knights, now 9-21 on the season were led in kills by Josie Palmer with six kills in the match. Palmer is coming off an injury, which sidelined her for several games.
Shelby Wolever had 14 set assists and Antoya Schaffert had nine defensive digs for the team leaders in each category.
The Lady Knights are home one last time when they host Southeast Community College on Monday, October 18.
On that night, part-time workers will be honored for their work with the athletic programs. Retired employees will also be honored.
In addition to this, five sophomores will be playing their final match at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium. They are Megan Chintala, MaKenna Ketter, Shelby Wolever, Ashley Starr, Josie Palmer, and Jessica Lovitt.
Prior to the game, their will be a tailgate in the north parking lot.
