NPCC Lady Knights volleyball defeats Southeast on sophomore night

NPCC Knights LogoNorth Platte – It was “Sophomore Night” at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on Tuesday night, and the Lady Knights sophomores helped propel the North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team to a victory over Region IX Division II opponent Southeast Community College Lady Storm in straight sets: 25-13, 25-16, and 25-22.

It was the final home match for sophomores Megan Chintala, MaKenna Ketter, Shelby Wolever, Ashley Starr, Josie Palmer, and Jessica Lovitt.

Lady Knights Head Coach Alexa McCall said, “I can’t thank our sophomores enough for what they have done and it was a good win for us.”

Palmer led the Lady Knight attack with 11 kills. Lovitt added eight kills and Ketter had seven kills. Wolever led the Lady Knights with 21 set assists and 12 defensive digs. Chintala added eight defensive digs and five set assists.

McCall said, “I thought we played disciplined volleyball. We kept defended our serve and also were able to get out of serve receive quicker.”

The Lady Knights are now 10-21 on the season and 2-2 in Region IX Division II play. They will be the number two seed in the Region IX Division II tournament in Beatrice on October 28-29.

The Lady Storm drop to 5-23 on the season and 0-4 in Region IX Division II play.

The Lady Knights will finish out their regular season when they travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa to participate in the Triton Invitational this weekend.
