Clifford Alan Reed, 65, of Brady passed away November 7, 2016 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital. He was born January 24, 1951 in North Platte to James J. and Gladys (Hill) Reed.
Cliff graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in 1969. He enlisted into the United States Marines (1969-1973), serving in Vietnam for 2 tours. In 1971 he married Sue Mickelson, (Amerine) to this union two sons were born, James and Christopher. After his discharge, Cliff settled in California where he worked in security and law enforcement. While in California, he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He moved back to North Platte in 1982 where he went to work for the Lincoln County Sherriff’s Department. On July 30, 1983, he married Gayle Guildner in North Platte. Cliff later took over his father’s coin shop, Reeds Coin Shop, changing the name to Pawnee Coin and Pawn Shop, and then to The Pawn Shop. He sold the business in 1995.
Cliff worked for Alaskan Cartridge Company as a traveling sales representative until March 2000. He coached the North Platte High School Trap Team, including the 1993 National Championship Team! He was an avid trap shooter and loved to share and teach in his sport. He was an avid hunter, spending much time with his family and friends.
Clifford was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a life member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Numismatic Association, Past President and life member of the State Trap-Shooting Association, Past President and life member of the Wildlife Gun Club, Past President of the Platte Valley Coin Club, a member of the Eagles, and was a sergeant in the Wild Horse Valley Militia.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle of Brady; sons, James (Angie) Reed and Christopher (Keila) Reed of North Platte; grandchildren, Savannah, Logan, Issac, Brady, and Maddie; siblings, James Michael Reed of Leavenworth, KS, Ron (Lois) Reed, Thomas W. Reed, Mary Ellen (Paul) Pedersen all of North Platte, and Susan (Steve) Coe of Lemoyne, NE; godson, Rylan Rippen of North Platte; mother-in-law, Wilma Guildner of Gothenburg; brother-in-law, William Guildner of North Platte; aunt, Evelyn Reed of North Platte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; nephew, Spencer Coe; father-in-law, Chalmer Guildner; and godfather, Bernard Grieser.

Christian Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Josh Brown as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors graveside. The family requests casual attire. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
