NPCC Lady Knights drop pair of games at Hawks Classic

NPCC Knights on ESPNNorfolk – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team were defeated by the Iowa Lakes Community College Lady Lakers, 59-51, and by the Des Moines Area Community College Lady Bears, 85-44 in the Hawks Classic at Northeast CC.

In the first game against Iowa Lakes, Lady Knights Head Coach Richard Thurin said, “We didn’t play very well the first three quarters. We outscored them 27-10 in the final quarter.”

The Lady Knights led the Lady Lakers at the end of the first quarter, 11-10.

In the second and third quarter the Lady Knights were held to single digit scoring, eight in the second, and five in the third.

The Lady Knights trailed at halftime, 28-18.

NPCC was led by Thomesha Wilson in scoring with 20 points, which led all scorers. Peighton Porter finished with eight points. Wilson and Jessica Lovitt each grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lady Knights.

Mia Wassink had 12 points and Tristyn Dunivant had 10 points to lead the Lady  Lakers balanced attack. Jackie Patrich had seven rebounds.

On Saturday against Des Moines Area CC, the Lady Knights trailed at halftime 51-21.

In the third quarter the Lady Knights were outscored 11-23, which made the score 74-32, in favor of the Lady Bears. DMACC won the game 85-44.

The Lady Knights are now 1-3 on the season and will travel to York on Tuesday to play the York College Junior Varsity. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
