Virginia Vivian Schlueter

Virginia Vivian (Voss) Schlueter, 86, passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 12, 2016, while surrounded by her loved ones. She died from pneumonia, a complication of MDS. She was born July 12, 1930 to William and Lydia (Scherbarth) Voss, in their house located ½ mile east of Ravenna Nebraska. Virginia grew up doing chores, delivering milk and spent many hours working with her dad on the farm.

On Sept. 26, 1948, she married Lester Albert Schlueter at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. Lester passed away on April 15, 1992. They lived in Hazard, Kearney and Grand Island before moving to North Platte in 1956. To this union they were blessed with three sons. Virginia focused her time as a devoted wife and loving mother. She also was a den mother, podiatrist assistant, church secretary and volunteered many hours at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Virginia’s family, song birds and roses were her passion and brought her much delight. She was known to chase a few pesky rabbits and squirrels out. She also took pride in her gardening and home and enjoyed making family dinners. Virginia was meticulous in notes and records, for which her family is very grateful.

Survivors include: her sister Pauline May Moon, 96, of Ravenna, NE; Sons; Glen (Joan) of Loveland, CO, Bill (Sharon) of Kahului, HI (Maui) and Ken (Vickie Jo) of Johnstown, CO; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; numerous extended family; and very dear and kind neighbors Johnny and Debbie Navarrete and Tommy and Alice Vieyra.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Reverend Robert Wiest officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
