LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Wahoo lawyer has been given two years of probation and house arrest for filing a false federal tax return.
62-year-old Kent Trembly was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Lincoln. He’s already paid most of the more than $110,000 in restitution.
Court records say Trembly didn’t report any gross receipts from his legal work or work as a veterinarian or investment broker for the 2006 and 2007 tax years.
His lawyer says Trembly initially wanted to challenge the legality of filing income taxes. But Trembly told the judge that he now understands that he was wrong.
