Maxine R. Jennings, 92, of Lincoln passed away June 29, 2017, leaving behind family and friends who will miss her spirit and laughter dearly.
She was born in North Platte on June 26, 1925, to John A. and Ruth (Greeley) Jackson. She graduated in 1943 from Maxwell High School. She actively participated in The Canteen during World War II, raised four children and moved to Lincoln in 1970, where she married Bill Jennings. They thoroughly enjoyed fishing, golfing, college football bowl game trips and vacationing in Hawaii with friends.
Above all else, she loved spending time with family. In between doting on her grandchildren and telling stories and laughing at a good joke, she kept her mind sharp by doing incredible needlework that she made as treasured gifts for her family. She was an avid college football fan and worked in the University of Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sisters, Mildred Thornburg and Helen White; and son-in-law, Roger Dillon.
Survivors include her children, Janice Dillon of Elkhorn, Stephen Dent of North Platte, Michael Dent of Redding, California, and Nancy Rudeen (Keith) of Elm Creek; stepson, Michael Jennings (Merlene) of Molokai, Hawaii; grandchildren, Tracy (Rich) Huff, Mary Dillon, Jenni Dent, Charlie (Ashton) Rudeen and Dane (Jenn) Rudeen; stepgrandsons, Brian (Elise) Jennings and Matt (Jessica) Jennings; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Jackson (Valarie) of Maxwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska.
Private family services will be at a later date. Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Bel Air Chapel, 12100 W. Center Road, Omaha, is in charge of arrangements.
