Martha Ann Burbach, age 93 of North Platte, passed away Tuesday February 6, 2018 at Centennial Park Nursing Home with her family by her side.
Martha was born March 14, 1924 in Crofton, NE to Bernard and Mary (Ausdemore) Langferman. She grew up in Crofton and graduated from Crofton High School in 1940. She attended Wayne State Teacher’s College and received her teaching certificate. She taught school in Cedar County for 4 years. She married Reinhold “Reiny” H. Burbach on July 9, 1945 in Constance, NE. They lived in Hartington, NE until they moved to North Platte in 1961. She belonged to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Daughter of Charities, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, St. Ann’s Rosary group, and she volunteered at McDaid School for 20 plus years. She was a past member of the Lake Maloney golf club and belonged to many bridge clubs. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, and made afghans for her children and grandchildren. Before retiring, both she and Reiny traveled to over 15 countries, most all the United States, and occasionally stopped at a casino or two! She was a person who could become friends with anyone and always kept people entertained with stories and jokes. Martha had a great sense of humor. She was a role model for many and was loved and admired by all, especially her family.
Martha is survived by her husband Reiny of North Platte; daughters Barbara Waldschmidt of Omaha, Rosemary (Ron) Jones of North Platte, Karlene (Dave) Hoedel of Walled Lake, MI; sons Bill (Suzanne) of Belmont, NH, Randy (Denise) of North Platte, Kevin (Denise) of North Platte; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; as well as other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Mary Langferman; sisters Helen Potts and Johanna Langferman; brothers Henry, George, Wendel, Joe, Frank, Albert, Erwin and Ray Langferman; and son-in-law James Waldschmidt.

Christian Wake Services will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday February 11, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday February 12, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with the Reverend Mark Seiker as celebrant and Reverend Tom Brouillette and Gary Brethour as concelebrants. Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the local homes of Martha’s children. Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 p.m. Saturday and from noon until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
