George M. Welsh Sr., 91, retired Postmaster, has a permanent change of address, Heaven. His time on earth expired March 10th, 2018 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen. He looked forward to this final promotion. George was born on January 8, 1927 in Brule, marrying Mac McDermott on December 4th 1948. George was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years; his son, Stephen, martyred for Christ in the jungles of Columbia, SA; his parents, & many family members and life-long friends. George is survived by his children: George Jr. (Sandy) of Cozad, NE, Betty (Chuck) Wretling of Littleton, CO, Peggy (Brad) Porath of Mullen, NE & Patricia (Alan) Kackmeister of Austin, TX, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sister, Alice Baily; sister-in-law, Betty Halsey; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Jesus is his Master.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Berean Church. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with family receiving friends Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in care of arrangements.
