Lady Knights lose both in final DH at home

North Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights softball team were swept in a doubleheader in a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference matchup 18-6 and 14-2.

The Knights got on the scoreboard first in the first inning.  Alyiah Franco was on first base following a walk, Hallei Morales hit a two-run home run to put the Knights on top 2-0.

Isabel Serna scored the first run for the Lady Indians on a fielder’s choice by Kathy MacDiarmid.

In the third inning, the Lady Indians took the lead on a two-run home run by Jerusha Miner, also scoring Chanel Siebenthal to make the score 3-2.  The Lady Indians added runs by Emily Charchuk, Serna, Kaylee Wengren, MacDiarmid, Taya Thorpe, and a second run by Siebenthal to break the game open at 9-2.

A grand slam by Thorpe and a two-run home run by Miner in the fourth inning increased the Lady Indian lead to 15-2.

The Knights added a run in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Lady Indian lead to 15-3.

The Lady Indians added three runs in the fifth for their final runs.  Morales hit her second home run of the game with two on base to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

In game two, the Lady Indians scored first to take a 1-0 lead.  The Knights tied it up with a run by Emily Marsden in the second inning.

The Lady Indians opened the score in the fifth inning by scoring six run to make the score 8-2.  They also added six runs in the seventh including back to back home runs by Emily Charchuk and Alexis Moeaki.

The Knights dropped to 4-30 on the season and 3-11 in the NCCAC. The Lady Indians end their regular season at 29-25 and 10-2 in the NCCAC.

The Knights finish up their regular season when they travel to Beatrice to play Southeast Community College in a doubleheader.  If the Knights win both games, they will host Southeast in the first round of the Region IX Division II tournament in a best two out of three series.  If Southeast win one or both they will host the Knights in the tournament.  The winner of that series will advance to play Central Community College.

Game times on Wednesday is at 4 and 6 PM.
