Terrance L. “Terry” Scoville, 71, of North Platte, passed away April 19, 2018, at North Platte Care Center.
He was born December 15, 1946 in Kearney, Nebraska to Carroll and Ruth (Datus) Scoville. The family resided in Sumner, Nebraska where Terry grew up with his older brother, Merlin “Mert” and many friends. His sister, Linda, completed the family when Terry was in his teens. He graduated in 1965 from Sumner High School.
Terry was a proud United States Army veteran, having served his country during the Vietnam War and lived for a time in Japan. Returning to the States, Terry attended college, achieving a degree from the College of DuPage. Always learning, Terry attended many more workshops and classes throughout his life.
Terry liked to travel and lived in many places, most notably, Chicago and St. Louis , but Nebraska was always home. Following the end of a marriage, which produced two sons and the death of his father, Terry returned to the Sumner area to be closer to his mom.
Terry married Marlow “Mickie” in 1991 in Broken Bow, which added three more children to his family. After a few years in Broken Bow, they moved to North Platte. Terry served in management positions over the years at Kwik Stop Convenience Stores, FYE and Goodwill Industries Retail Store. Terry became the social liaison officer for the Salvation Army, a job he held until his retirement a few years ago. He also took pride in his work for the Family Skills Building Service and serving on the board for the Nebraska State Gaming Commission.
Always looking to enrich the lives of others, Terry and Mickie took in many foster children over the years, several children were still in contact. Terry thought the world of these youth and wanted nothing but the best for them.
Terry spent his free time looking to flesh out his family tree by researching genealogy and has many binders to show for his diligence. He loved going to the movies, shopping and especially Black Friday sales. Most weekends could find him and Mickie hitting up countless garage sales, on the lookout for new treasures. Terry loved spending time with his family and loved ones, especially his grandkids.
Terry is survived by his wife, Marlow “Mickie”; sons, Morgan, John, Jess, Matt and Aaron; Daughter, Chalice; grandsons, Morgan, Abraham and Trevor; brother, Merlin; sister, Linda (Jon); nephews, Steve and Tim; nieces, Shelly and Melinda; many more friends and family and his foster children.
