Marjorie Jean Linder

Marjorie Jean Linder died Friday, September 7, 2018 at GP Health following a brief illness.

Marj was born July 17, 1925, in Guthrie County, Iowa to John Wells McCool and Mildred Forseman McCool. She attended rural schools in Bayard, Iowa and graduated from Bayard Senior High School in 1943. She was her graduating class Valedictorian. Marj taught school in Iowa and was attending summer school when she met and married Dave Nuzum in 1946. She has lived in North Platte since 1969. She married Ralph Linder in 1972.

Marj worked at Mutual Building and Loan, retiring in 1984. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and held an office for many years. Marj was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church and served as a member of the collection plate counting team for over 20 years. She loved quilting and sewing and was a member of the Flying Needles Quilting Group for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She also served many hours as an RSVP volunteer.

Marj is survived by her 4 children: John (Kathleen) Nuzum of Gillette, Wyo.; Janet (Ken) Mescher of Shingle Springs, Calif; Kathy Nuzum Strain of Citrus Heights, Calif; Kent (Denise) Nuzum of Antelope, Calif; and her stepchildren: Cindi Linder Stevens of Gothenburg and Dave Linder of North Platte. She is survived by two brothers and one sister. Her family includes many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great greatgrandchildren. In her final years Marj was also loved and supported by her stepson, Dave Linder and family friend, Jane McCrone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dave Nuzum and husband Ralph Linder along with a brother, sisters in law and a step granddaughter.
