Robert Leonard Unruh


Robert Leonard Unruh, of Wallace, NE, passed away Tuesday, October 23,
2018, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.  He was 77
years old.

Robert was born August 12, 1941, to Leonard and Edna Charlotte (Rose)
Unruh at North Platte.  He grew up in rural Paxton, NE, and graduated
from Paxton High School in 1959.  Robert went on to farm and ranch in
the Sutherland and Wallace area with his dad and eventually his son.

On April 27, 1963, Robert was united in marriage to Arlene Dee Kjar.
The couple had two children, Betty and Larry, and have lived near
Wallace since 1972.

Robert was a member of the Wallace Community Church and spent many years
as a 4-H Leader.  He made metal sculptures and enjoyed working in his
shop.  Robert and Arlene were also very active in square dancing and a
card club where they met many friends.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Arlene, of Wallace; children,
Betty (Rick) Aschmann, of Quito, Ecuador, Larry (Sharla) Unruh, of
Wallace, and José (Kristine) Cherres, of Atlanta, Georgia; seven
grandchildren, Justin Belsky, Cheyenne Unruh, Levi Unruh, Anne Aschmann,
Nathan Aschmann, Sebastian Cherres and Alexander Cherres;
step-grandchildren, Heidi (Jason) Barron and James (Christina) Aschmann;
six step great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Sandi) Kjar, of
Irving, California and Jack Peck, of Fort Collins, Colorado; as well as
several nieces, nephews, other family and his friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edna;
brother-in-law, Dennis Kjar; and sister-in-law, Janice Peck.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Odean
Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Bob Witt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Sutherland.
Visitation will be prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &
Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be
shared at odeanchapel.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested
to Wallace Community Church Building Fund.
