Lancaster County Court records say Brandee Curry is charged with felony theft. The records don’t list the name of an attorney who could comment for her.
A police investigator says in court records that Curry met Michael Matthews, of Spencer, in May 2017 on an online dating website. Soon after they started dating he received $355,000 from the sale of some land. She began asking for financial help, which he provided between July 5 and Nov. 20 last year.
The investigator says Curry told Matthews various tales, including that she needed $14,000 for her son’s medical treatment and more money to pay her father’s gambling debt after his sudden death. The investigator determined that Curry lied about her son and that her father hadn’t died.
