Donald Allen Blevins

Donald Allen Blevins, age 88 of Gandy, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE.
Don was born January 17, 1930 in Decatur, KS to Alfred and Anna (Patterson) Blevins.  He graduated from Gandy High School in 1949.  He married Lyla Fowler on December 8, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton, NE.  He worked as a butcher at the meat counter at Sixth Street Market in North Platte.  They purchased a farm near Gandy, NE in 1953 which became the Lazy DL Ranch, that he and Lyla owned and operated.  Don was an active member of the Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Stapleton.  Don was a board member of the Logan County Co-Op Association for many years.  He will be greatly missed by his family, neighbors and friends.
Don is survived by his wife Lyla of Gandy; children Donald (Debbie) Blevins of Norfolk, Dennis (LaVonne) Blevins of Woodland Park, CO, and Linda (Adair) Smith of West Chicago, IL; grandchildren Brooke (Todd) Hartbecke of Sioux Center, IA, Traci (Trevor) Summeril of Woodland Park, CO, Melissa Blevins of Kansas City, MO, Stephen (Kinisha) Blevins of Woodland Park, CO, Angela (Chase) Rogers of St. Charles, IL, Michael (Chantella) Blevins of Colorado Springs, CO, Aaron Smith of Cleveland, OH, and Adam Smith of Naperville, IL, 18 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce (George) Schaeffer of Stapleton; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Anna Blevins; brother Byron and his wife Esther Blevins; sister Francis and her husband Emory Long; nephews David Blevins and Dale Miles, and niece Ruth Beckius.
Don and Lyla have supported missions faithfully over the years, especially through their granddaughter Melissa (Missy) Blevins who continues to serve full time with OneEleven Global. OneEleven Global is a non-profit missions organization that trains, disciples, and sends missionaries throughout five continents. The organization partners with the local church, serves with them, and equips them in prayer and missions to send out laborers who go forth with the good news of Christ. Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday January 4, 2019 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Stapleton with Pastor Eric Mockiatis officiating.  Burial will follow at Loup Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 3, 2019 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
