January 9, 2019, at the age of 58.
Kathryn was born in San Diego, California, on July 11, 1960, to David
Dean and Beth Ann (Freeman) Holland. She grew up in California and
Arizona and graduated from Prescott High School in 1978. Kathryn then
worked for the Yuma Daily Sun before getting married.
On May 16, 1981, Kathryn was united in marriage to Duke Charles Deitz at
Yuma, Arizona and the couple lived in Flagstaff while Duke finished
college. After he graduated they continued living in Arizona then moved
to California, Washington, Utah, Texas and New Mexico before moving to
North Platte in 2013.
While in Utah, Kathryn received her B.A. in Elementary Education and was
Valedictorian of her class from Utah Valley University. She went on to
earn her Master’s Degree from Western New Mexico University. Kathryn
was employed by North Platte Public Schools where she taught 3rd Grade
and Title 1 at Jefferson Elementary and she was a member of Calvary
Baptist Church.
She enjoyed traveling and loved the outdoors. Kathryn especially loved
her family and will be remembered as a kind, caring person who was loved
by everybody.
She leaves behind her husband, Duke, of North Platte; son, Jeffrey
(Stephanie) Deitz, and grandchildren, Angie, Ashley and Glen, of Salt
Lake City, Utah; her father, David, of Sun City, Arizona; brothers, Don
(Laura) Holland, of Youngtown, Arizona and Doug Holland, of Phoenix,
Arizona; four nieces; three nephews; as well as other family.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her mother, Beth Holland.
Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore
with Pastor Ryan Alexander officiating. Casual dress is requested. The
memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9 a.m. until
services on Tuesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is
in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to
Habitat for Humanity.
