Man imprisoned for 2 Omaha robberies

Edward Sherrod

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to two Omaha robberies has been imprisoned.

U.S. District Court records say Edward Sherrod was sentenced Monday to 90 months in prison and was ordered to pay nearly $19,500 in restitution. He’d pleaded guilty to two robbery counts after prosecutors agreed to drop a third count.

The records say he used a toy gun and nylon masks to cover his face when he robbed a Baker’s supermarket on July 5, 2017, and a Mega Mart on July 24, 2017. Prosecutors say a witness got the license number of a car Sherrod used for the Mega Mart heist, and investigators traced it to a rental company. He was arrested when he returned the car to the rental office.
