CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities say a man shot and killed a 4-month old baby before turning the gun on himself in the tiny southeastern Wyoming town of Lingle.

53-year-old Duane Clarkson Sylvester’s wife called 911 on Thursday night to report that her husband was suicidal. The Goshen County Sheriff’s Office says that while the woman was on the phone, she told dispatchers that Sylvester shot her baby and then himself.

The man was flown to a hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where he is in the trauma intensive care unit.

Sylvester’s 33-year-old wife was uninjured. No other details have been released.
