Morris J. “Moe” Hoban


HOBAN, MORRIS

Morris J. “Moe” Hoban, 72 of North Platte was called away June 30th, peacefully at his home.
Moe was born on August 29th, 1942 in North Platte, Nebraska to William Patrick and Lillian Faye Harrison Hoban. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1966, after 2 years of service he was honorably discharged and returned to North Platte.
Moe worked for Nebraska Game and Parks for a couple years, then started his career with the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a Carman for over 30 years.
Moe married Marolyn Kahlig on May 12th, 1968. He loved to spend time with family and friends, fishing, camping, and hunting. He built a little place at Lake McConaughy in 2006 which he named “The Shack”. This is a very special place that has been enjoyed by many of his friends and family over the years.
He was a member of the Eagles Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marolyn; three daughters; Mickie (Allan) Hartzler, Marcie (Tony) Schultz and Amber Hoban; one son, Andy (Elery) Hoban; nine grandchildren, Magen and Marcus Hartzler, Zach (Tara), Kaycie, Dillon Schultz, Tianna, Keaton, and Autumn Richardson, and Teghan Osborne; one Great-grandson, Kaiden Hartzler; two sisters, Gwendolyn (Bill) Golden, and Dorothy “Jodi” (Dick) Lee; five brothers, Aloysius “Fay” (Patricia) Hoban, John “Buck” (Pat) Hoban, Terrance (Anna) Hoban and Francis “Andy” (Markieta) Hoban, and many nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian Hoban, his mother-and father in-law, George and Lucy Kahlig, his brother William “Ron” Hoban and sister Helen Rogers.

At the family’s request Memorials are suggested to the Callahan Cancer Center in North Platte or Donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors. Casual dress for the service is welcomed. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9:00 to 5:00 Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
