Platte River State Park to host rimfire challenge

Platte-River-State-Park_Entrance-SignLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Platte River State Park is hosting a rimfire shooting challenge and learning experience.

The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. July 11 at the Roger G. Skyes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex.

Organizers say the introduction to rimfire shooting is about shooting fast, but participants will first learn the fundamentals by being slow and methodical while practicing.

Space is limited to the first 20 people to register. Participants must be at least 12 years old. Shooters who bring their own rimfire rifles must also bring their own ammunition.

The event is free, but each vehicle entering the part must have an entry permit.

Registration is available online at http://www.register-ed.com/events/view/58816 .
