OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Police have arrested an Omaha man believed to have killed a 28-year-old woman whose body was found inside her home on June 25.
Police say they believe Jessyka Nelson was killed by 27-year-old Matthew Kidder, who was a longtime friend of Nelson’s family.
Kidder is being held in the Douglas County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and a weapons count.
Police have not said how Nelson was killed, only that a weapon other than a gun was used to kill her.
Kidder was convicted in 2008 of attempted first-degree sexual assault and sentenced to five to 10 years in prison. He was released in June 2013.
