Bellevue Plans to Move Into New City Hall by 2016

city-of-bellevueBELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — A building that’s now occupied by a defense contractor likely will serve as Bellevue’s new City Hall by late 2016.

BAE Systems told the city last week that it plans to vacate the building by March 31 after deciding not to extend its lease. The building is one of three in an office complex that the city purchased for almost $4 million in 2012.

The city’s finance director, Rich Severson, says that after BAE Systems moves out, it probably will take a few months for renovations and for city government operations to move out of the current City Hall, which was built in the 1970s.

Severson says that around $250,000 has been set aside for the building’s renovation work.
