Books Stolen from Little Free Library in Lincoln

lincoln-policeLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say books have been stolen from six Little Free Libraries around Lincoln in less than a week.

Megan Ockander noticed that more than half the 40 books were taken from the Little Free Library she tends and said Sunday that five other Little Free Libraries also have been hit by a thief or thieves.

Lincoln Police Capt. Danny Reitan says that without more evidence, such as video footage, there is little his department can do.

The Little Free Library organization says a Little Free Library basically is a box of books where anyone may stop and pick up a book or two and bring back another book to share. The books are free to readers.
