Valentine Woman Accused of Stealing from Cherry County

Jail-Bars-and-Cuffs_mediumVALENTINE, Neb. (AP) — A former deputy county clerk of Cherry County has been accused of stealing from the county.

On Tuesday Cherry County Attorney Eric Scott announced the arrest of 44-year-old Monica Bristow, of Valentine. She’s charged with theft and unauthorized use of a financial transaction device. Scott says Bristow misused a county credit card and submitted fraudulent claims to the county.

Online jail records say Bristow has bonded out of custody. A public phone listing for her couldn’t be found. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment on Bristow’s behalf.

Bristow’s next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
