The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team will try to improve on their 5-4 record when they travel to Sterling, Colo., to play the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen on Tuesday, September 1 at 7:00 p.m. CST.
The Lady Knights are coming off a 5-0 weekend at the McCook Community College Invite. They are led by Valerie Most, who has 86 kills and 2.87 kills per set. Most is followed by MaKenna Ketter with 75 kills and 2.59 kills per set. Shelby Wolever has 3.57 set assists per set and Jessica Lovitt has 0.77 blocks per set to lead the Lady Knights in those categories. Defensively, the Lady Knights are led by Megan Chintala with 3.97 digs per set.
The Plainswomen are 6-2 on the season. They are led in kills by Anais Vargas with 3.35 kills per set. Madison King has 2.85 kills per set and Yuting Qi has 2.45 kills per set. Qi also has 1.15 blocks per set to lead the Plainswomen. Taylor Upchurch has 10.10 set assists per set and Jazmin Montes has 4.5 digs per set.
Lady Knights head coach Alexa Hopping said, “I’m excited to see us match up against Northeastern after our weekend. They are a tough team and we will have to work hard but I think we are more prepared this time around.”
The Lady Knights return home on Wednesday when they play Hastings College Junior Varsity. It is “Elementary Night”. All elementary students wearing their school T-shirts and their families will be admitted into the match free.
