Grand Island Probe Clears City Workers in Girl’s Drowning Death

island-oasisGRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — City officials have completed their review of the drowning of a 5-year-old girl at a Grand Island water park and say city personnel followed proper procedures.

City Attorney Bob Sivick said Wednesday that proper safety policies and procedures were in place and that the city workers followed the procedures and their training.

Hall County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf said last week that Nubari Koffree’s drowning was an accident. Nubari was with her mother at the Island Oasis Water Park on July 18 and was found in the wave pool area.

Officials have said her drowning was the first to occur in the 21 years the water park has been open.
