Wyatt McGuire was named the Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
McGuire is the second Husker to earn the weekly award from the conference this season. Peter Spinks captured the honor on Sept. 9.
A redshirt freshman from North Platte, Neb., McGuire led the Huskers to the team title at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational by finishing fourth overall with a time of 25:35.5 in the 8K race. His time was good for second in the University Division. He led the pack of four Huskers that lifted the Big Red to victory.
The Huskers are back in action at the Kansas Invitational on Oct. 3.
