Consuelo “Judy” Ponce age 64, of Lincoln formerly of North Platte passed away October 10, 2015 at her home.
Judy was born November 26, 1950 in North Platte to Jesus and Epifania Hernandez Ramirez. She grew up and attended North Platte Public Schools and later in life attended Mid Plains Community College. In 1968 in Holland, Michigan she married Anthony Ponce. The couple resided in North Platte where Judy worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and was an in home care taker for the elderly. She became the social services director for the Salvation Army serving in that capacity for many years, starting the Angel Tree and the Back to School Tree. Judy was truly a selfless soldier of Christ, taking care of everyone in need. She was a recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award for her volunteer work at the Salvation Army by the North Platte Chamber of Commerce. Her family never ate a Thanksgiving meal until all the people she helped were fed and taken care of. Her compassion and generosity had no measure.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony Ponce of Lincoln; children, Laurie (Terry) Lage of Lincoln, Jennifer (J.J.) Caudillo, and Ann (Michael Bose) Ponce all of North Platte; grandchildren, Tori Caudillo, Toni Caudillo, Isabel Caudillo, Ella Caudillo, Anah Caudillo, Anthony (Ashley) Cox, Jefferson Cox, Emma Cox, and McKinley Ponce; great-grandchildren, Darian, Malachi, and Adriana; siblings, Gen Sharp of Grand Island, Dan (Minerva) Lopez of Houston, TX, Mary (Jerry) Akins of Houston, TX, Esther Shepherd of Grand Island, Robert Ramirez of San Antonio, TX, and Joe (Eileen McBride) Ramirez of Omaha; best friend, Randy Ponce; in-laws, Robert (Dorothy) Ponce, Mary Helen Vieyra, Mary Donna Sanchez, Susan (Larry) Tridle, Randy Ponce all of North Platte, Elizabeth (Arturo) Perez of Omaha, Deborah Cano of Lincoln, Tim Ponce of Lincoln, Janet (Lars) Parkhurst of Virginia Beach, VA, Michaelene Miller of Omaha, and Al Jamsay of Denver, CO; lifelong friends, Fred and Janie O’Valle; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mona Layton; brothers, Louie Lopez and Jesse Ramirez; sister-in-law, Hope Jamsay; brother-in-law, Dennis Shepherd; and a niece, Rita Vieyra.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend James Golka and Major Chris Wood of the Salvation Army co-officiating. Cremation was chosen, inurnment will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. today and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
