John R. Hupfer, 79, of North Platte, passed away October 20, 2015 at his home. He was born October 10, 1936 to John A. and Hazel A. (Johansen) Hupfer at North Platte. He graduated from North Platte High School and on August 14, 1955, John was united in marriage to Sherry Schuler. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958, during the Korean Conflict, until his honorable discharge. When he returned to North Platte, he was employed at Brewer Concrete and later at Paulsen’s. John was a faithful member of the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; a son, Ricky (Lona McAllister) Hupfer; two daughters, Diana (Mark) Burk and Judy Hupfer; two brothers, Tommy (Bobbi Sue) Hupfer and Richard (Julie) Hupfer; a sister, Barbara Harrop; five grandchildren, Mitzi (Leroy) Kramer, John (Heather) Hupfer, April (John) Perkins, Josh Hupfer and Chelsea Burk; and seven great grandchildren, Taylor, Holden, Logan, Mason, Kaidin “Shorty”, Zachary and Baylie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Randy Hupfer; an infant daughter, Wendy; and a grandson, Chad Burk. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to First Christian Church. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Timothy Adams officiating. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
