John L. Fullagar 85, of North Platte passed away October 28 at Great Plains Health Hospital North Platte, Nebraska. Born May 31st 1930 in Battle Creek Michigan, he was adopted and raised by Leon and Florence Fullagar. He grew up in and around Comstock Michigan where he learned to enjoy every aspect of the great outdoors, a love that he carried throughout his life. Graduating from Comstock High School in 1948 he soon after married his childhood sweetheart Patricia J. McBain. Together they enjoyed a life that took them across the United States during John’s varied career. John worked at a paper mill, broke horses and fought oil well fires when young, owned his own successful gas station, drove truck both local and long line, worked construction, but the love of his life was clay model designing for the automotive industry. As a designer, he worked for Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, and Isuzu. Many of the vehicles today have John’s personal design touches in them. When John’s wife of 69 years passed away in 2008 he moved to North Platte to be with his son and daughter-in-law. Those that knew him, know his love of fishing, his fantastic wood working skills, gregarious nature, and over all love of life. John is survived by two daughters and a son, Karen S. Beach of Seattle, Washington, Teresa J. Gallas of Nashville, Tennessee, Tim Fullagar and his wife Lisa of North Platte. John also cherished his time with nine grand children and 19 great grand children. He will be missed.
