1 Person Killed When Pickup Rams Shack in Eastern Nebraska

douglas-county-sheriffVALLEY, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed and one injured when a speeding pickup rammed a security guard shack in the eastern Nebraska community of Valley.

The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A security guard was taken to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha for treatment.

Valley Police Chief Brett Smith says the pickup driver was racing away from an attempted traffic stop when his truck hit the shack at Valmont Industries.

Authorities have identified the driver as 58-year-old Richard Stubbs, of Omaha. The name of the security guard hasn’t been released.
