Nebraska sophomore linebacker Chris Weber was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 football team Thursday afternoon. With his selection to the all-district team, Weber advances to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.

Weber carries a 3.97 grade-point average in nutrition science and has been a key performer for the Nebraska defense this season. Weber was an Academic All-Big Ten choice as a redshirt freshman in 2014, and a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection.

A graduate of Elkhorn High School, Weber has 42 tackles this season despite playing in only five games. Weber also has five tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Weber had back-to-back double-figure tackle games earlier this season with 12 stops against Southern Miss and a career-high 17 tackles at Illinois.

Nebraska has a long-standing history in the academic honors. Nebraska leads the nation in Academic All-Americans across all sports with 320, including 111 football honorees. Nebraska has had 73 first-team Academic All-Americans in school history. The 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America team for Division I football will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 3.
