Blizzard Warning Issued for Southwest Nebraska

snowstormMCCOOK, Neb. (AP) — The National Weather Service is warning that travel could be hazardous on Wednesday in southwest Nebraska as blizzard conditions develop.

The service has issued a blizzard warning to run from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, with snow and strong winds likely to spread into the area after sunrise. One to 3 inches of snow is expected, but winds of 30 to 40 mph gusting to 60 mph could reduce visibility to near zero.

The service also is warning people to be prepared for road closures and power outages.
