Former Husker, Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost is new UCF coach

ucfCentral Florida has hired Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost as its new coach to take over a program that just finished a winless season.

New UCF athletic director Danny White called Frost a winner and an innovator in announcing his hiring in a statement Tuesday.

The 40-year-old Frost played quarterback for Nebraska from 1995-97 and has been an assistant with Oregon since 2009. He became offensive coordinator in 2013.

Frost will be a head coach for the first time. He takes over a team coming off the worst season in program history. The Knights went 0-12, and during the season longtime coach George O’Leary retired.

Just two years ago, however, the Knights beat Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl to finish 12-1.
