The North Platte Community College Knights and Lady Knights basketball teams will travel to Sterling, Colo. to play the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen and Plainswomen on Wednesday, December 2.
The Lady Knights will take a 4-3 record into the game against the Plainswomen, who are 3-5 on the season.
Both teams are National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX colleges. In the women’s game the Plainswomen are Division I, while the Lady Knights are Division II, so the game will have no effect on regional standings.
The Plainswomen are led in scoring by Jennae Fieldgrove with 10.1 points per game. Jessica Renata is second with 9.6 points per game. Gillian Franklin leads the Plainswomen in rebounding with 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Lady Knights are led by Sarah Mahr, who is averaging 14.3 points per game. Suhmer Mitchell is the only other Lady Knight averaging in double figures, scoring 10.4 points per game. Mickenzie Brennan leads in rebounding with 6.3 rebounds per game.
The men’s game will be a Region IX South Division contest.
The Plainsmen are 4-5 on the season and 1-0 in division play. They are led in scoring by Marcus Cooper with a 14.6 scoring average. Robert Jones is next on the Plainsmen in scoring with 11.9 points per game. The third to score in double digits for Northeastern is James Dumes at 11.3 points per game.
Cooper and Jones also lead the Plainsmen in rebounding with 6.8 and six rebounds respectively.
The Knights are 6-2 on the season and have not played a Region IX South division opponent. The Knights are led in scoring by Tim Wagner at 18.8 points per game. Diontae Champion is averaging 17.5 points per game and Tyree Peter is the third Knight averaging in double figures at 10 points a game. Peter also leads the Knights in rebounding averaging 8.6 rebounds per game.
