GERING, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say the suspect in the beating death of a 36-year-old Scottsbluff man has been charged with murder.

Court documents show that the original felony assault charge against 33-year-old Christopher Murrillo has been amended to murder in the slaying of Abraham Crane. Scottsbluff police say Crane was severely beaten and kicked and found in an alley on Nov. 16. Police say Crane died on Sunday at Regional West Medical Center.

Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney for Murrillo who could be contacted to comment on his behalf. Murrillo has been in custody since his arrest Nov. 24 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
