Omaha – Despite a game-high 28 points from Andrew White, the Nebraska basketball team fell at Creighton, 83-67, Wednesday at CenturyLink Center Omaha.

Nebraska (6-4) whittled a 14-point first half deficit to 36-32 after an Andrew White III basket in the opening minute of the second half, but the Bluejays went on a 16-2 run as Geoffrey Groselle scored six of his 15 points in the spurt.

White carried the Husker offense in the loss with 28 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, while Tai Webster added 15 for the Huskers in a losing effort.

Creighton shot 52 percent on the night, the high for a Husker opponent in 2015-16, while Nebraska shot just 40 percent, including 4-of-21 from 3-point range.

The early second half run was costly, as Nebraska was unable to cut the lead back into single figures.

Nebraska overcame a dreadful start to climb back into the game and trailed 36-30 at the halftime break behind the play of White, who had 15 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals in the first half.

Nebraska got off ice cold, hitting one of their first nine shots from the field, while Creighton (6-3) hit eight of its first 13 shots to take an 18-4 lead after a 3-point play from Isaiah Zierden, who had 11 first-half points and finished with 17 on the night.

A 3-pointer from Webster started to turn the tide, as Nebraska chipped away, using a 10-2 run to pull within 22-14 after a White 3-pointer with 8:31 left in the half.

Nebraska then closed the half on a 12-4 spurt to get within 36-30 after White’s jumper just before the half.

The Huskers return to action Sunday afternoon when they host Rhode Island. Tipoff at Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for 1 p.m.
