GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — A police officer has rescued a woman from a house fire in Grand Island.
The blaze was reported a little after 2:45 a.m. Sunday. The officer had been told that a woman was still inside the home, so he entered it before the firetrucks arrived and found her near the front door.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of burns. Ed Carlin of the Grand Island Fire Department says the officer also was treated at the hospital and soon released.
The fire cause is being investigated.
