Donald LeRoy Mowry, age 82, of Thornton, CO, formerly of North Platte, passed away at the Denver Hospice on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Don was born January 4, 1934, to Clifford and Ruth Vedder Mowry at Lexington, NE, where he grew up and attended school. Don later joined the U.S. Air Force and following his discharge moved to North Platte. He worked as a truck driver, driving locally and over-the-road for different companies.

In 1959 Don met Geraldine ‘Gerri’ Meyer and they were together for 35 years. They lived in North Platte before moving to Thornton, CO.

Don liked to fish and camp and was a good grandpa. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles in Thornton.

He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Stan) Smith and Sandra (Butch) Shockley, all of Greenville, SC; Gerri’s sons, Ron (Nikki) Meyer and Von (Mary) Meyer, all of North Platte; a sister; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other family members.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ruth; two sisters; and his special friend, Gerri Meyer.

Cremation was chosen. Graveside Memorial Service will be held later in the spring in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
