NPCC Knights and Lady Knights to Face McCook

npcc mccookThe North Platte Community College Knights men’s and women’s basketball teams will face the McCook Community College Indians on Wednesday, January 20.  The women’s game will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by the men’s game at approximately 7:30 pm.

The men’s game is a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region game and a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference game.  The women’s game is an NCCAC contest.

The Lady Indians come into the matchup with a 17-1 record.  Their only loss came against Western Nebraska Community College on December 12.

They are averaging 84.0 points per game and allowing 61.7 points per game.  The Lady Indians are led in scoring by Chante Church at 18.4 ppg.  Lucia Archuleta (11.2 ppg) and Brooke McWilliams (10.6 ppg) are the other two Lady Indians scoring in double digits.  Kendra Baucom leads the Lady Indians in rebounding with 11.9 rebounds per game.  Both Church and Baucom lead the Region IX South Sub-Region in those categories.

The Lady Knights are 6-7 on the season and averaging 64.2 ppg while allowing 65.1 ppg. The Lady Knights are led by Sarah Mahr at 15.3 ppg.  Suhmer Mitchell is the only other Lady Knight in double figures at 12.6 ppg. Mahr also has 5.6 rebounds per game to lead the Lady Knights.

On the men’s side the Indians are 13-4 on the season and 4-3 in South Sub-Region play.  The Indians have four players averaging in double figures led by Brody Sharky at 21.4 ppg.  Draylan Perkins is next at 14.6 ppg.  Brandon Goldsmith and Lewis Diankulu, who are averaging 12.7 and 12.4 ppg respectively.  Sharkey also leads Region IX South Sub-Region in scoring.  Diankulu leads the Indians in rebounding with 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Knights are 9-8 and 3-4 in Region IX South Sub-Region play.  Tim Wagner leads the Knights in scoring with 16.6 ppg.  Diontae Champion is next at 15.8 ppg.  Leito Holloway is averaging 10.1 ppg for the third place in scoring.  Tyree Peter has 8.7 rebounds.

It will be NebraskaLand National Bank Corporate night and has also been designated as “Law Enforcement Night.”  All Law Enforcement, Fire Department, along with their families will be admitted into the games free of charge.
