NPCC Knights Basketball Teams Host Eastern Wyoming on Elementary Night

NPCC Knights LogoNorth Platte —The North Platte Community College Knights men and women’s basketball teams will host the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers on “Elementary Night” on Friday, February 5 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on the South Campus of North Platte Community College .

All elementary students (K-6) and their families will be admitted free into the games.  The school with the best percentage of students in attendance will receive a visit from “Knightro” to their school.

In the ladies’ game, the Lady Lancers come into the contest with an 11-12 record.  Three Lady Lancers are averaging in double figures led by Sarah Bersang at 11.5 points per game. Lacey Knudsen is next at 11.4 ppg. The third player is Emily Evans at 10.1 ppg.  Knudsen leads the Lady Lancers in rebounding at 6.6 rebounds per game.

The Lady Knights are 10-8 on the season and are led by Sarah Mahr, who is averaging 15.1 ppg.  Suhmer Mitchell is the only other Lady Knight to average in double figures at 12.3 ppg.  Mahr also leads in rebounding at 5.1 rebounds per game.

The Lady Knights were defeated by the Lady Lancers 85-75 earlier in the season in Torrington, Wyo.

On the men’s side, the game is a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region contest.

The Lancers are 7-17 overall and 1-10 in South Sub-Region play. The Lancers do have five players averaging more than 10 ppg.  Grant Olsson leads the team at 15.0 ppg. Cedric Collinge is next in scoring at 11.2 ppg. Dashawn Benson is averaging 11.0 ppg. Petar Skoknic and Chris Oseitutu round out the double digit scoring at 10.8 and 10.0 ppg respectively

The Knights are 13-9 overall and 5-5 in the sub-region. Tim Wagner leads the Knights at 15.9 ppg.  Diontae Champion is second at 14.2 ppg.  Tyree Peter is next at 10.5 ppg and Leito Holloway is the fourth Knight at 10.3 ppg.  Peter is averaging a double-double with 10 rebounds per game.

The Knights defeated the Lancers 99-73 in Torrington, Wyo.

Tip-off time for the women’s game is 5:30 pm with the men’s game following, approximately at 7:30 pm.  Both times are CST.
