Norma I. Pittack

Norma I. Pittack, age 88, of North Platte and formerly of Plainview, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 in North Platte. She was born February 2, 1928 to Meldy and Rena Johnson at Plainview, NE. Norma graduated from Plainview High School with the class of 1944 and taught school at District 62 in Antelope County for two years. On February 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Pittack at the Bethany Lutheran Church. The couple farmed southwest of Plainview for many years. They moved to Plainview in 1966 and then to Norfolk in 1970 and later returned to the Plainview Community. Norma moved to North Platte in 2001 to be near her daughter. She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte and past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview, where she was active in the bible studies and Lady’s Aide. Norma enjoyed playing cards, golfing, playing the piano, and sewing. Family that will cherish her include her daughter, Lynette Hickman; grandchildren, Shawn (Leanna) Hickman, Heather (Shane) Kirk, and Justin Hickman; great-grandchildren, Alaina, Mia, Ryan, and Kaleb; brother, Mervin (Sharalyn) Johnson; sister-in-law, Norma Pittack and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry Pittack; son-in-law, Jerry Hickman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Olga Johnson; Marvin (Leota) Pittack; Glenda (LeRoy) Steinkraus; Harold Pittack; Edwin (Winetta) Pittack; Donald (Esther) Pittack; and Leonard (Eunice) Pittack; and a nephew and several cousins. Services will be 11:00 am Monday at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte and 11:00 am Wednesday, at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Burial will be at the Plainview Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 7 pm Sunday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7pm at Carpenter Memorial Chapel and before the services at Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or to the Plainview Library. Online condolences maybe shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.
