Everett “Dwight” Rosso, age 80 of North Platte, passed away Thursday March 24, 2016 at Great Plains Health.
Dwight was born on July 3, 1935 in Bartlett in Wheeler County in Nebraska to Everett Ernst and Helen Rose (Sturek) Rosso. He grew up in the area and attended Wheeler Central High School where he played a lot of sports and graduated in 1954. He moved to Grand Island in 1959 where he met and married Evelyn June Dybdahl on May 19, 1962. They were later sealed in the Denver Temple. The couple lived in Grand Island for 17 years before moving to North Platte in 1978. He worked for a few years for Missouri Valley Construction and Cornhusker Ordnance Plant with his father and brother before going to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 2002. Dwight had a lot of pastimes including fishing, puzzles, and collecting stamps. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a member of the Buffalo Bill Stamp Club. He loved sports of all kinds, especially the Chicago Cubs baseball team and the NE Cornhuskers. He loved spending time with family and friends and his most favorite thing was attending his grandkids band and choir concerts, musicals and any other award ceremonies they were involved in.
Everett is survived by his daughters Dorothy (Mike) Hiserote, Helen Rosso, and Karen (Michael) Hall all of North Platte; grandchildren Lcpl. Zachary Hiserote, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Brandon Hiserote of North Platte, and Tiffany and Zoey Hall of North Platte; siblings Robert (LaVonne) Rosso of Grand Island, Beverly Kennedy of Bartlett, Yvonne (Ronald) Field of Papillion and Ann (Ken) Kasselder of Ericson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn in 2011; parents Everett and Helen Rosso; infant sister Rita Rose Rosso; and brother-in-law Bill Kennedy.
Memorials are suggested in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday March 28, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Platte. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday March 27, 2016 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
