The Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team snagged its second bull riding win in a row over the weekend.
Colter Glendy, of Oconto, was first in the event during the 58th annual University of Nebraska–Lincoln Rodeo on Friday and Saturday in Lincoln. Trey Engel, of Silver Creek, placed second.
Glendy’s win follows on the heels of Garrett Heinert’s first place finish April 9 at a South Dakota State University rodeo in Brookings, S.D.
“I’m excited any time we can get a single event win,” said Dustin Elliott, MPCC Rodeo Team rough stock coach. “I expect one of my guys to win the bull riding every week, I just can’t tell you which one it’s going to be. I believe in them that much.”
In other events at the Lincoln rodeo, Duell Puttergill, of Tryon, was second in the saddle bronc riding, and Shane Weber, of Burwell, was third.
Kaile Jacobson, of Haiku, Hawaii, and Riley Weehler, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, placed fourth in the team roping, followed by fifth place duo Tyler Murray, of Wheaton, Kan., and Kris Rasmussen, of Riverdale.
Rasmussen also ended up fifth in steer wrestling.
Overall, MPCC was seventh in the team standings – a disappointment for Elliott, especially since the team had been second at Brookings.
The team will have a chance to bounce back this weekend during a Black Hills State University rodeo in Spearfish, S.D.
