Arlington Woman Arrested in Death of Burned Memory Care Patient

fremont-policeFREMONT, Neb. (AP) — A staffer at a memory care facility in Fremont has been charged in connection with the death of a patient who was burned after he fell asleep next to a fireplace.

Fremont police say in a news release that 23-year-old Anne Pavlik, of Arlington, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant listing felony abuse of a vulnerable adult. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment for her.

A court document says Pavlik acknowledged that she didn’t check on the patient Feb. 13 after he nodded off too close to the fireplace at Edgewood Vista. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police say an autopsy showed a combination of natural causes and the burns killed the man.
