A North Platte woman is facing a felony assault and child abuse charge after she allegedly assaulted her husband.
According to Investigator John Deal, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of North Pacific Street at around 11:46 a.m., on May 17 .
Officers met with 31-year-old Heather Granados, her 27-year-old husband, and several independent witnesses.
Officers learned that Granados and her husband were allegedly not getting along, and Granados took their two children outside of an apartment where they were staying.
According to Deal, the husband believed that Granados was under the influence drugs, and went outside to retrieve the children.
As the man approached Granados, she allegedly began swinging at him, then grabbed a box cutter that was in his pocket and cut him on the arm with it, all while she was holding a one of the children.
Police say the victim had a cut that corroborated his story, and a box cutter was located near Granados. They say she fought and resisted officers as they attempted to detain her.
In the end, Granados was placed under arrest and charged with felony 2nd-degree domestic assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, felony child abuse, and resisting arrest.
Granados was taken to Great Plains Health for medical clearance before being jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
The children, who were uninjured, were placed in temporary state custody.
