Search for Escapees Continues; Public Urged to Remain Vigilant

As of Friday night, June 10, the Nebraska State Patrol in conjunction with the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force continues to search for two escapees from the Lincoln Correctional Center.

Inmate Armon Dixon, 37, and Inmate Timothy Clausen, 52, were last seen wearing tan pants and gray long sleeved shirts. The two inmates have been on the run since evading officers following a short pursuit in a stolen pickup. The vehicle was abandoned by the two suspects after hitting a parked car in the area of 18th and H streets just before 10:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The search for the two inmates has been concentrated in the area south of the Capitol as well as an area in south Lincoln near Highway 77th and Saltillo Road.

Just before 6:00 p.m., officers sighted a male matching the description of inmate Armon Dixon near the area of 17th and G streets.  Multiple resources were utilized to search the area, with no sign of the suspect found.

Citizens are urged to be vigilant as the search for the escapees continues. Dixon is an African-American male, 5’9”, 152 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair. Clausen is an African-American male, 5’8”, 160 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair. The public is advised to not approach the escapees who are considered dangerous.

“We encourage residents to keep a watchful eye out and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately,” said Lt. Colonel Thomas Schwarten, Assistant Superintendent Nebraska State Patrol.  “We continue to follow leads and the search for the suspects is ongoing.”

Anyone who sees an individual matching the description of the escapees should call 911, the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline at *55 from any cell phone or Lincoln Crimestoppers at (402) 475-3600.
