HUMPRHEY, Neb. (AP) — A new memorial is being planned to honor veterans in the city of Humphrey in Platte County.
Nembers of the Humphrey American Legion Foltz-Zuerlein Post 80 are working with an architectural firm from Hawaii to have the memorial built in Heritage Park.
Retired U.S. Army Reservist Geri Wemhoff said the architectural firm is donating its work. According to Wemhoff, the current memorial in the park is small and needs to be upgraded.
Wemhoff said that they hope donations will finance a large portion of the memorial’s construction, which could be completed within one to two years.
