Ansley man sentenced to 17 years for child pornography

dept.-of-justiceLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A central Nebraska man and previously-convicted sex offender has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says in a news release that 42-year-old Darrell Jenkins, of Ansley, was sentenced Friday in a federal court in Lincoln.

Jenkins was previously convicted in 2005 of third-degree sexual assault in Custer County. Last year, the Nebraska State Patrol was contacted by Alliance police after getting a tip that Jenkins had been sending sexual text messages to a 14-year-old. An undercover officer posing as a minor then contacted Jenkins. Prosecutors say Jenkins then communicated lewd messages to the officer, thinking the officer was an underage person.

Police say a subsequent search of Jenkins’ home turned up dozens of videos and pictures of child pornography.
