VALENTINE, Neb. (AP) — The Cherry County Planning Commission has recommended against approving a permit for a proposed wind farm.
The commission voted against a plan by Bluestem Sandhills LLC to erect 30 windmills over several thousand acres. The commission adjourned early Wednesday morning after several people spoke for or against the project. So many people showed up for the commission meeting at the courthouse that it was moved to Valentine High School.
Critics of the plan cited fears about the environment. A company representative didn’t immediately return a call Thursday from The Associated Press.
